Are you joining us for our Renewal of Genesis 1 panel on the 14th of September?

Meet the second of our esteemed panelists, Rabbi David Seidenberg. Rabbi Seidenberg is the creator of neohasid.org and author of Kabbalah and Ecology: God's Image in the More-Than-Human World. One of the world's foremost experts on Judaism and Ecology, David was ordained by both JTS and Reb Zalman, and brings a unique synthesis of spirituality and scholarship. He is also a dancer, a noted liturgist, and a scholar of Maimonides, Buber, and Rebbe Nachman.

In the Jewish calendar, today is the 1st of Elul, the first day of the last month of the year. This day is the New Year for Animals, our more-than-human neighbors. Rabbi Seidenberg has written extensively on Judaism and animal ethics in various forums and scholarly journals.

The Deep Water Initiative is inspired by the ecological importance of water as an all-pervasive element that sustains life on this planet.  The metaphysical importance of water as both a cleanser and regenerator has been upheld by many cultures throughout the world, and is celebrated within the creation myths of different religious and spiritual traditions.  The Deep Water Initiative has been particularly influenced by the significance of water as demonstrated within the Five Books of Moses.
